Estilo Industrial, Herencia Neoyorquina

Industrial Style, New York Heritage

This trend has its origin in the city of New York, during the second half of the last century, it was born as an improvised decoration style by artists who decided to inhabit small or sometimes large factories, warehouses and workshops in neighborhoods that were abandoned by lack of money and the cessation of industrial activity.

These former workshops and warehouses have similar architectural characteristics, high ceilings with metal or wooden beam structures and exposed service installations (air ducts, pipes and electrical wiring), brick walls without any covering, large windows and open or diaphanous spaces. . We must remember that these types of spaces were initially not built as homes but for industrial purposes.

Currently, the Industrial Style is still in force and we do not precisely mean that there are still old industrial warehouses available in New York , but rather as a decoration style, by this we mean that an industrial style can coexist at the same time in an apartment. an American city as in a Mexican city or any other country. This means that the style has prevailed and has spread over time, with a certain evolution, but without losing its original essence. Currently interior designers and architects adopt it as part of their service portfolio and it ends up pleasing both locals and strangers. It is a trend that is tropicalized and mixed with the essences of the region where it is applied, obtaining interesting industrial-style interior design proposals.

So, your home is not an old New York factory? Don't worry...

We have a series of ideas to achieve a modern industrial style in your spaces.

Let's start with the kitchen, a piece that adapts perfectly to the style is the Long Hood, which as we can see in the image, its design of simple and structural lines provides a sober aesthetic that seems to be limited only to functionality, however , its elongated duct simulates an old industrial air duct (pardon the redundancy).

The next space is the bathroom; A palette of cold colors characterizes this type of decoration and for this we have an exclusive piece with an avant-garde design, it is the Special Basin in Alpaca Cascada Design that together with polished concrete tiles or ceramic tiles in grayish tones (although you can choose the one you like the most) create an atmosphere very typical of the industrial style.

Consider countertops in dark colors or you can alternate the tone of the walls with that of the bathroom countertop depending on the contrasts you want to achieve.

And finally, it is not a space, but it is something essential in every home... lighting, for this we present various lighting options, the first of which is the Brooklyn Lamp, with a modern aesthetic and a very warm tone (in complement with cold industrial tones), however, as mentioned above, this style has been evolving in various aspects.

The second luminaire option is the Manhattan Pendant Lamp, the disc shape and its shiny interior allow for more concentrated and intense lighting. As a tip, we recommend using Edison -type bulbs, preferably LED or the classic resistance ones. If you have doubts about what these types of bulbs are, at the end of the article we share an image with you.

Remember that nowadays it is somewhat difficult to follow a decoration style to the letter sometimes due to the availability of materials or any other factor that limits carrying it out, however, at d'artesano we will continue to share more decoration tips that can be adapted to the style of your home. The important thing is to take what you like most about the trend and apply it to the particular style of your home.
