Volcanoes, a wonder of nature for which humanity has had deep admiration and respect since ancient times; He has created a series of myths, stories and works of art around them that have reflected their splendor through them; but also its power, which some cultures, cities and towns have witnessed throughout history.
At D'ARTESANO we have taken as reference some of its most captivating qualities as inspiration to create a collection of handcrafted bathroom and kitchen furniture that is characterized by a new and unique hammering, very different from what we have previously presented to you.
The Volcano Collection is a series of unique pieces with a finish similar to the texture of volcanic rock, with designs and colors that symbolically represent some inherent characteristics of volcanoes such as magma or craters. It is one of our most avant-garde collections, designed to complement architectural and interior spaces where artisanal and modern converge to form very original decoration styles. Consisting of seven pieces, three of new design: Paricutín sink, Fuji sink and the Box sink; and four of an existing design, but which were renovated in the style of the collection.
Below, we describe for each piece the inspiration that led us to create it (only applies to very few), the design and characteristics that make it special and a short review on material tips, color combinations, etc., so that you can Apply when remodeling your home.
*All the models presented here can be made in different shades of patina.
Paricutin
It is an exclusive sink model, inspired by the Paricutin Volcano, reflected in different aspects of its design, very notable to the eye and touch. The first of them is the shape of different segments of the piece, in the upper part on one of its sides you can perceive a small unevenness which is a symbolic representation of the crater of this iconic volcano.
In the skirt that descends from the top to the base, one of its ends is longer than the other, a very particular asymmetry that makes this sink unique. Its DARK SMOKE patina (exclusive for this model) reminds us of the grayish color of the ashes and fumaroles that were once emitted by this natural phenomenon. Of course we couldn't miss the texture that resembles volcanic rock, abundant in the landscape that surrounds Paricutin (in fact, this Michoacan landscape was our main inspiration to create the texture of the entire collection).
We have for you some suggestions of colors and materials that go well with this sink. Well, let's start, if your goal is to maintain uniformity of tones, we suggest using a cover in light-dark shades that range from certain grays such as Oxford or Lead to intense black similar to that of Obsidian or Charcoal (a medium tone between gray and black). It should be noted that these tones also apply to walls and other decorative objects or complementary furniture. To give metallic touches you can add brushed brass or shiny nickel faucets and knobs. With the application of this color palette you will be able to create an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere in your bathroom, you will not regret it, we can assure you.
The choice of countertop material is important mainly because the texture of this sink is very imposing, so a granite countertop is not the best option, given that this material has a very unique porous texture, which would take away the prominence of our countertop. piece, then the suggestion is polished or matte marble countertops or if you prefer more modern materials such as porcelain tiles or acrylic resins that are characterized by achieving smooth surfaces with very uniform patterns.
Fuji
It is a new model of sink with linear edges and symmetrical flat faces, it has the shape of a hexagon and some features of its design are inspired by Mount Fuji, an inactive volcano located in Japan, very representative of Japanese Culture that has been part of the Numerous artists and photographers who have painted and photographed it on countless occasions, we have taken advantage of all that inspiration that it radiates and have brought it to the design of a handmade piece.
If you have a perfectionist tendency, this sink is especially for you. You will be captivated by the symmetry of its design and its straight corners. Its RED color is a representation captured on the copper surface of a fortuitous oriental sunset, which together with the volcanic texture makes it a highly exclusive piece in this collection.
So, what are the ideal shades and materials for this sink? Let us tell you, if you are looking to create contrasts of tones, the recommendation is light-dark colors that are not as intense as black, but rather like light grays similar to concrete. You can include a polished cement or porcelain countertop, although don't rule out marble.
If you want to maintain a decoration without very marked color variations, we suggest countertops in brown tones such as Walnut, Mahogany or Oak. And of course for this type of combination, wood is the perfect option. However, you can play with the color and material combinations to your liking.
A characteristic of this sink is that its interior is not very deep, so we recommend using a wall tap at a considerable height that allows adequate mobility.
Tatras
It is the most minimalist model in the Collection, with a rectangular structure, with linear edges and symmetrical sides; A double wall sink that achieves a harmonious decoration in any bathroom.
This sink is pure elegance from its design to its color, it is created to be the protagonist in your bathroom decoration. And if you are a fan of dark tones like black, this piece is undoubtedly for you.
As you know, black is synonymous with elegance and has the power to turn common spaces into avant-garde spaces. Following this logic, we suggest including a roof and walls in similar tones, but if you want to add color accents, consider using countertops in lighter tones. such as those of natural wood and gray walls (in the image below you can see an example of this combination).
Another fantastic idea that adapts to the colors and model of this sink is the Industrial Style in which cold and dark tones predominate, and the countertops and concrete walls which perfectly complement the minimalist design of the Tatra Sink.
Melody
The spectacle of seeing rivers of lava flow (literally) is something that only few people have had the joy of contemplating, we have taken such a natural spectacle as inspiration to complement and improve the new design of the Melody sink. The highlights of the DARK LIGHT color simulate the “rivers of lava” that circulate beneath the already solidified volcanic rock, represented by the texture of the Volcano finish.
It is a sink with a circular, double-wall design and from our Vessel line created to shine in the bathroom from any angle.
If your bathroom is large, a couple of them will look incredible, but if your bathroom is smaller and you only have space to place one, don't worry, our suggestion applies to both cases, we recommend countertops in neutral or light tones. , whether they are made of wood or granite, preferably without texture, that is, try to ensure that the countertop does not get lost with the texture of the sink, opt for cleaner (cover) designs, we assure you that your new sink will look very good in addition to being It will give your interior decoration a touch of elegance.
Capsule
The Capsule model is a sink with the most futuristic design of the collection, it is the result of the combination between craftsmanship and the pure application of industrial design; Its edges are somewhat linear, but with organic tendencies. The subtle depth gives it a particular and elegant canoe shape, you will not resist sliding your hand along the concave hammered surface. One of the most fascinating features of this sink apart from those already mentioned is its ORANGE patina, which reminds us of burning lava coming from the deepest part of the earth.
Its wide skirt will make it very attractive on the cover of your bathroom furniture. To give you an idea of the color combinations you can make with this Vessel, look at the image below. In the first instance, the color of the countertop is white and the wall is gray. This mix of colors makes the Orange color shine over the other tones, creating a warm color accent. The cover material is Calacatta-style veined marble that contrasts with the rough hammered texture, undoubtedly an excellent combination to create a neat environment and decoration.
However, we know that tastes vary between genres, and if your thing is the most eccentric combinations, you can use materials (for the countertop) such as granite or concrete, which are more porous but very resistant surfaces. If you want to maintain minimal variation in shades in your bathroom, you can use brown tones for the countertop and beige for the walls.
Dune
Perhaps one of the most risky colors in the Collection, mainly because we were uncertain about how the BRIGHT color would look with the hammered Volcano since this color is one of the most common and well-known in both kitchen or bar utensils and pieces of furniture. decoration, and which regularly has the classic hammered (line), however, we decided to take the risk and carried it out and we ended up liking the result so we decided to include it in this collection.
It is the only model in this collection that is designed to be recessed into the bathroom countertop, but not completely because its inclined flange makes the upper edge protrude a few centimeters from the countertop. This simple detail will give a unique style to your bathroom. .
As we already mentioned, the color of this sink is Bright, a very radiant color that by itself can become the center of attention. However, we will give you some tips so that you can achieve the perfect decoration in your bathroom. Use the color of this sink as an accent, especially if you opt for a bathroom furniture in Black or Oxford Gray, but if you are looking to integrate it into the color palette, use neutral or light tones, this will allow your bathroom to give a feeling of tranquility. and elegance.
Remember that if you do not apply some type of enamel or lacquer to this color, it will become darker over time and end up giving an aged appearance very typical of copper. But the application of protective polish is purely your decision, which you can choose at the time of your purchase.
Tarja Box
The only piece of kitchen furniture in the collection with a totally new design and an innovation in the way it is placed, very different from the rest of the sink models that we handle and that exist on the market, for this and more they make it a unique piece. special.
The sinks are commonly recessed into the cover, remaining flush or protruding a few centimeters from the top level of the countertop. The difference with the Box Sink lies in the lateral design of each side (see the first image above). a slope that joins them, this allows the sink to be placed so that the upper level is covered (as if it were a backsplash) and the lower level is undercovered (see the second image below).
The other feature that differentiates this sink is that its drawer is a little deeper than normal, which allows it to be placed completely on the countertop, as if it were a Vessel sink, thus achieving a very impressive view in the kitchen (note the last image). Something that really isn't very common in modern kitchens (at least for us).
As you realized throughout this article, each piece in the collection has its peculiarities, which is why the same shades or materials cannot be applied to all of them. We hope that the suggestions given here are useful to you and that you have Know more about what is behind each product in this new collection created especially for you who have a taste for authenticity, what is handmade and know how to value artisanal products made by Mexican hands.
